The white wood is whitish, the sapwood is 2 to 5 cm wide, the core wood is light reddish brown to reddish brown, often changeable. The density of dry wood varies between 340 - 460 kg / m3 depending on the fineness of the age / width of the annual rings. After drying, this wood is medium-dimensionally stable, easy and clean to process, has a uniformly smooth surface, can be polished and surface treated, making it suitable as a facade wood. The wood moisture on delivery is approx. 18 - 20% for exterior flooring wood and 10 - 12% for cladding wood. Cedar wood has been highly valued in antiquity. It contains a resin that gives it a characteristic odor. The substances contained may ronate on fresh areas of cut and therefore cause discolouration on the masonry. We therefore recommend all cutting edges to be coated with OSMO End Grain Sealing Wax No. 5735. For western red cedar, it is especially important to use corrosion-resistant fasteners for external constructions. Natural light gray after almost six months of weathering is normal and does not affect either quality or durability. Color differences between individual boards are natural, some differences in color can be very striking. Wood density: ca. 340 - 460 kg / m3. Artificial dried to: 16-18%
