Substructure: Timber
A timber substructure is suitable for both visible and concealed fastening of decking boards. The Distance Strip is particularly suitable for visible deck fastening. It acts as a spacer, allowing natural movement between the decking boards and the substructure. At the same time, it promotes air circulation beneath the deck, helping to reduce the risk of mould growth.
For fastening to a timber substructure, standard wood screws such as Mex Screws can be used. The Distance Strip also helps reduce the risk of screw shear failure.
The Distance Strip is fixed using 4 mm diameter Mex Flat or Mex Classic screws through the pre-drilled holes provided. Five screws are required for each Distance Strip. The strip is 70 cm long.
Note: Pre-drilling should always be carried out when working with hardwood or tropical timber.
Packaging: Supplied in bundles of 50 pieces. Individual pieces are also available.
